Stuck at home, you can still visit the world

Even if we #StayHome, remember that there’s so much that can be accomplished via webcam — including watching zoos, touring museums, watching a ballet or going on a safari.

You can access a lot of virtual museums in the coming weeks and. Google Arts and Culture prepared a list that includes the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, the Carnegie Hall din New York, the Frida Kahlo Museum in Mexico City or the Sydney Opera.

Opera and theater plays

Bolshoi Theater from Moscow broadcasts its best classic performances online for free, on its Youtube channel. Schedule for the next weeks:

Cirque du Soleil shares online a few of its shows.

MET Opera in New York have daily performance streams, such as La Rondine or Madama Butterfly.

Nature and animals

Even if the zoos and aquariums closed their doors, they still have live cams that offer viewers a peek at the animals, sea and nature.

You can visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium to look at the birds and the sea, San Diego Zoo to look at tigers, monkeys and many other animals and Smithsonian’s National Zoo to look at giant panda bears.

My favourite activity discovered during this quarantine is to go on a safari in Africa. You can view the safaris between:

06:00am – 09:00am CAT (sunrise dependent)

15:30pm – 18:30pm CAT (sunset dependent)

Part of Australia’s reef can be seen here.

Nikon offers online photography classes until the end of April.

Enjoy and Happy Eater to those celebrating this weekend! Here’s a picture with me and my brother, celebrating Easter, in 1992.
